The Return of the Haircut
Short, Sharp or Structured – The Haircut is BACK at WESTEND Hair Salon in Glasgow
From edgy pixie crops to short, chic bobs, there’s no denying that the haircut is back with a bang. WESTEND Salon Director, Gary Carmichael, shares his thoughts on why…
This season and especially over the summer months we have been seeing more and more of what I would describe as ‘the return of the haircut’.
You don’t have to look hard to see lots of evidence for this. On magazine covers you will see the new ‘supermodels’ are doing it. Fashion weeks the world over, with some designers using haircuts instead of just hair!
Girls on the street are jumping on the bandwagon, too. As a hairdresser, I can’t be more excited about it. I definitely think this stems from years of us seeing just long hair as trend, and if you want to be an individual and stand out from the crowd then this will be the best way.
So, if you are thinking of going for the ‘chop’ you know where to find us. Here are the hair trends from the Autumn/Winter 2017 catwalk shows to inspire you…
JEREMY SCOTT // Trend: ‘The Individual’
Individuality was celebrated at Jeremy Scott this season, with a line-up of singular, non-conformist looks channelling the rebellious nature of the Eighties.
OSMAN // Trend: ‘Punk Rock’
At Osman, hair was stripped back and the popular buzzcut looked cooler than ever. If you are lucky enough to have high cheekbones – you should seriously consider this look!
ALEXANDER WANG // Trend: ‘Nineties cool-girl’
The AW/17 hair at Alexander Wang was inspired by nineties tomboys and the effortlessly cool ‘out-of-bed-look’ synonymous with the decade.
